In the Caribbean, tea can mean a variety of beverages: not just caffeinated tea, but hot chocolate, fruit teas, noncaffeinated tisanes, and herbal tea, which sometimes is called “bush tea” in the region. When I was a little girl, my mother would offer me Milo or Ovaltine—whichever I was fond of at the time. As I got older, I moved on to peppermint and ginger and basil teas. The teas in this section are all noncaffeinated tisanes.

I will not go so far as to say that in the former British colonies we do not have teatime anymore. In the Caribbean there are still a large number of people who have tea in the middle of the day.
