For parties, picnics, luncheons, or even a light, but fairly substantial meal, the sandwich is a great favorite since it offers a tempting and delicious medium for the serving of a countless variety of left-overs, cold meats, fruits, vegetables, and combinations. Any of the meat salads make choice sandwiches, and when delicately and temptingly served, will add to the reputation of the hostess.

All sandwiches should be so prepared that every particle is edible. The crust of the bread, while highly nutritious, is usually discarded for appearance sake, leaving the slices in squares, rectangles or triangles, and usually trimmed after the sandwich is completed. First trimmed to a full square, they may be cut across to form rectangles or smaller squares, or cut diagonally to form large or small triangles.
