Wheat is grown in most parts of China, particularly on the North China Plain (which covers parts of Hebei and Shandong, and is formed from deposits from the Yellow River) and in the Fen River valley in Shanxi. Other grains include corn, millet and oats. The diet of the northern people has been shaped by local agriculture, and their staple foods are bread and noodles made from these grains. Rice is not grown.
