Hardly a chocolate maker you may think but Duchy Originals produce some excellent chocolate products and the philosophy of the company is very dear to my heart. Duchy Originals is the company established by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales in 1990 to encourage more sustainable methods of farming and food production and to raise funds for the Prince of Wales’ Trust, a charitable foundation. Duchy produce a number of products nearly all of which are made from natural ingredients sourced from organic production systems. Duchy’s Applemint Thins are made with 70% organic chocolate and flavoured with natural oils, these thin chocolate wafers are also made with ginger; tangerine and plain. Featuring ginger again, (a personal weakness) I loved the Chocolate Coated Stem Ginger Sticks and also the Mediterranean Orange Peel. Duchy Originals’ chocolate is one of the few luxury organic chocolates with packaging to match. Currently stocked by most good supermarkets and delicatessens across the country.
