  • About
The Callebaut chocolate family goes back to 1850 when Charles Callebaut set up a complex under the name ‘Gebroeders Callebaut’ in Wieze, a few dozen kilometres outside Brussels. It consisted of a brewery, a malt-house, a milling house, a dairy and mineral waters. Chocolate called ‘Meurisse’ represented only a small part of the business but in 1911 the Callebaut company began to produce its own-name chocolate bars and tablets for the consumer and in 1925 started the couverture production line to supply manufacturers.
