  • About
Naturally, all fresh herb wreaths have fragrance. A scented pot-pourri wreath, though, is made with highly-scented dried flowers and aromatic leaves.

Of course, it is nicer if you are able to pick and dry all the flowers and leaves for the wreath at home. But no matter if you have to purchase some or all of the material needed.

The type of base you choose will determine the style of the wreath. A ring of dry florist’s foam is lightweight and easy to cover with dried material. A frame of woven branches has an informal, natural appeal. I favour the long whippy growths from winter jasmine, though wisteria and vine prunings are equally attractive. (Note though that the two latter plants should be gathered during the dormant season only, before the sap rises in early spring.) Thick bundles of broom make a dense sage-green base over which the dried flowers and leaves can be scattered rather than massed.
