  • About
This method has the same effect as a compress, but instead of using the herbs in a liquid form, the plants themselves are held against the skin.

The herb used can be fresh or dried. If fresh, bruise the leaves or root and place them directly on to the skin or sandwich them between two layers of thin gauze. If dried, make them into a paste by adding either hot water or apple cider vinegar until it is of a spreadable consistency, but not too wet, and apply this to the skin.

To keep it warm, for the same reason as given for the compress, wrap it in the same way and hold a hot water bottle against it. If your poultice is not being applied between layers of gauze, first rub a little oil over the area to be covered with the poultice as this protects the skin and makes the poultice easier to remove.
