This is one of the best ways of using the healing properties of the oils. Massaging regularly improves well-being and is either relaxing or stimulating depending on the oils used.
The oils are usually added to a ‘base’ oil before being massaged into the skin so that they are not too overpowering and go further. When ‘vegetable oil’ is mentioned in the Directory, choose from almond, apricot kernel, avocado, grapeseed, olive, soya and wheatgerm. You can use the light oils - almond, apricot kernel, grapeseed and soya — on their own or combined. The heavier oils - avocado, olive and wheatgerm - have a strong aroma and are sticky when used on their own, so work best if combined with one of the lighter ones, unless a very rich massage base is needed.
