Walking through the doors on your first day of culinary school can be exciting, but also a little scary. What will the chef-instructors be like? Will I be able to keep up? Although we call it “cooking school,” people don’t come to learn to cook. Almost everybody can cook to some degree, at least well enough to feed themselves, and some of the students might be people with many years of experience working in a professional kitchen. Cooking schools serve to help you improve and refine your skills, expose you to cooking in a professional setting, and most of all, provide you with the history and an understanding of where it all started.
