The Compagnons du Tour de France ou du Devoir is the name used to represent several traditional trades dating back to medieval times during the construction of the great cathedrals and châteaux of France. Anintegral part of a compagnons apprenticeship is the fulfillment of a tour of France of a minimum of 3 years but can last up to 10 years. During his tour, the compagnon woiks with master craftsmen who continue the tradition of passing on their skills to the next generation through mentorship, communîly, and travel.
