The closest translation of the term ciselerm English would be “to finely mince.” Used in particular with bulbs, such as onions and shallots, it is a methodical way of cutting them very finely. The term originally was used to describe the method of finely slicing leafy vegetables such as sorrel, spinach, or lettuce and also fresh herbs.
