Hare

A larger, darker fleshed relative of the rabbit, hare has played an important role in human survival since the dawn of civilization. Hares are native to Africa, North and Central America and Eurasia, however, through migration and introduction by humans, hares can now be found almost worldwide.

The hare’s preferred habitat is the plains just on the edge of the woods, often just on the edge of human settlements. For some reason, throughout history all over the world, they have been made central to mythical and religious beliefs. For example, the idea of there being a hare on the moon is so common that the myth is found in Japan, China, India, England, and many other countries.
