What Is Art?

We’ll try to be clear what we mean when we say “art”—not that it’s an easy task. In fact, your definition of art is certain to sway your belief as to whether a dining experience has the potential to fall into that category.

Generally when people speak of art, they’re referring to fine art such as literature, music, painting, and sculpture. But there are also the performing arts, such as theatre, not to mention the applied arts, such as architecture. The potentials within the dining experience can be related to each of these.
