Salt. You can’t make food taste good without salt.
Pepper. I love pepper—salt, pepper, and ginger make things taste good.
Lime juice.
Hot sauce. I like it to spice up food—I’m not really impressed with subtlety in food. I’d take El Yucateco [hot sauce].
Bacon. I could make a salad with the bacon fat and lime juice—and some tomatoes.
Greens. I like leafy greens, like baby collards and kale. I use it as lettuce as well as in cooking.
Ginger. It’s a nice, fresh spice.
Oysters. It’s my favorite type of seafood. I like the East Coast variety, which are salty and briny, as opposed to West Coast oysters, which are more subtle.
Tomatoes. I like really nice, fresh tomatoes. I’d make a salad to go with the oysters.
Sweet potatoes. They’re versatile and tasty, and you need a starch to balance dinner.
