I always say to anyone within earshot that wine isn’t as complicated as some would have you believe. Similar to food, wine is subjective. Every person’s taste buds are unique and the taste of every wine will be different for each person. All that airy-fairy language you find on some bottles is best ignored (thankfully, many estates have stopped using verbose language to tell you what’s in the bottle).
Another gripe of mine is people judging the quality of wine based purely on its price. This is a myth. The estate that produced it determines the price. It has little to do with how good it tastes. Obviously, some estates will price their wares somewhat higher over time based on popularity and awards but this shouldn’t be your reason for purchasing it.
