MOUNTAIN BIKER
Enjoys easy-going mountain biking and some magical mystery tours, which often end up in bogs!
THE RIDE
My weekly 1.5–2-hour adventure up local hills after work.
PRE-RIDE
I generally have something nice and stodgy at lunch time. Usually the go-to is nice and comforting homemade dahl; the secret ingredients are a glug of apple cider vinegar and soy sauce right at the end to give it a bit more depth, with a side of rice with some chopped coriander.
DURING

I always have a pocket snack of oatcakes, a tangerine and some homemade energy balls (dates, almond butter, coconut oil and cacao powder) just in case I feel the need to top up. I don’t usually need them and they just get carried over into the next ride. Carrying the oatcakes in my pocket means they crumble to dust, which helpfully makes it easier to eat them from the bag (like a funnel of oaty, crunchy goodness) and no muddy hands touching the snacks!
