ROAD RIDER
THE RIDE
A summer solo-ride across Europe to transport my bike from Prague (where I am from) to Oxford. I cycled 120km a day.
I decided to bikepack the 1247km from Prague to Oxford, despite having no experience of long-distance solo bike travel. I packed my tarp and sleeping bag and cycled on average 120km a day across the Continent to Hoek van Holland to catch the ferry over to East Anglia. I slept in forests, sheds, little German stone towers, and even spent a night in the famous Bauhaus architecture school, where you can rent a room and it is absolutely amazing. There were many highs and lows along the way, as you can imagine. Cycling brings such a constant flux of emotions; if you add the solitude to it, you get a very strange cocktail. I battled that strange place with food, of course.
