Cut the fruit into slices approximately ½ inch thick. String the slices on to thick thread or cotton, using a coarse needle. Each string should be about one yard long. Hang the strings outside in midsummer in strong, direct sunlight. Turn the strings occasionally, until the fruit is like leather. If the process takes longer than a day, take the fruit indoors at night and leave it hanging in a warm, dry place.
