  • About
It might be traditional to begin a journey through the seasons in spring, but I have chosen to start with summer, not only because the South African year begins in midsummer, but because summer is the richest time of the year for fresh fruits and vegetables. I have ended with spring because it contains the promise of more good things to come.
Summer is the smell of the jasmine that bloomed outside my granny’s house, the velvety touch of a ripe peach picked straight off the tree, still warm from the midday sun, and the smell of ripe tomatoes.
