The late Euell Gibbons was indefatigable in his quest for foods to nourish mankind that could be found free by foraging around the countryside. He was a good writer, a joy to visit, and an amusing conversationalist. These are both fascinating volumes, which I once told him should be titled The Best Things in Life Are Free.
