Wat Xieng Thong is the Luang Prabang’s prettiest temple. At 500 years old, it’s one of the city’s oldest, and is akin in design to the northern Siamese or Lanna style. Rooves sweep low and are layered, like a mother hen guarding her chicks, say the Laos.

Laos flavours

Slices of cucumber accompany many Laoation meals. The mix of salty, hot, sour, bitter and sweet must have its counterbalancers of cool and crunch.
