I usually like to start the day with something light. It’s not that I don’t love bacon and eggs, it’s just that I think a glass of freshly squeezed juice and a little muesli is the perfect way to start the day. Or, if one is feeling like it, some roast tomatoes or mushrooms on toast. Yum. But, there is a whole chapter on eggs later on, so when you want to go the whole hog, by all means do.

My wife Sam and I usually start the day with a fresh juice. It makes you feel healthy on the inside, for the very simple reason that it is so good for you. And, yes, you do have to clean the juicer afterwards, but once you get in the habit you will never look back. We vary the fruit and vegetables to reflect the season and that always keeps us looking for the next combination. Here are a few of our favourite blends – all you need to do is start juicing and you will soon discover your own.
