How to Rim a Glass

Coating the rim of your cocktail glass is a simple way to add fun and pizzazz to your drink. All you need is something to moisten the rim and a rimming element, such as salt or sugar.

To rim your glass, moisten the rim with water, citrus juice, honey, or simple syrup by using a small brush or dipping the glass into the liquid about ½ in [13 mm] deep. Set aside. Place your rimming element on a plate or in a shallow bowl. Take your prepared glass and dip it upside down into the rimming element. Rotate the glass a few times so that the entire rim is coated.
