Every summer, I am the person who arrives at the farmers’ market with a wagon meant for carrying my kids and invariably leaves with the wagon filled with cases of fruit, while my kids walk alongside helping me pull it. I can’t resist the dappled skin of a sun-ripened peach, or those small, juicy strawberries, or the faintly dusty apples right off the trees that crunch when you eat them, or the blush of a ripe apricot. I love fruit—and the farmers that grow it. If you have a local farmers’ market, I absolutely recommend buying your fruit there. The flavor is so much better than you can find in any store.
