Dolci al cucchiaio is one of my favorite Italian gastronomic terms: literally translated as “spoon sweets,” it signifies soft foods, like creams and custards, eaten with a spoon. I have also included several fruit desserts that are favorites of mine, as well as the triumph of Sicilian grain cookery, the famous pistachio couscous from the Santo Spirito Monastery, in Agrigento.
