Pacific Northwest Regional Barbecue Championships
Red Hook Ale Brewery, Woodinville, Washington
In one of the most idyllic settings we visited on our entire barbecue pilgrimage across the fruited plains of the US, we delighted in the quiet, calm, and peaceful setting of the Pacific Northwest’s biggest barbecue event in the tiny town of Woodinville, about 30 minutes north of Seattle.
Held in the park-like setting of the Red Hook Ale Brewery, in a rural area scattered with upscale wineries and rolling vineyards, sits the venue for what proved to be a delightfully calm, cool, and collected event. Forget the madness of Houston, the frenzy of Memphis, or the bustle of Kansas City’s American Royal. The PNWBA Championships were almost lethargic in tone, but delightfully slow, not boring.
