Standard American measuring cups and spoons are used to measure recipe ingredients in this book. Most recipes are written in quarter measurements, or in multiples of 2 ounces.
American measuring spoons are calibrated as follows: ⅛, ¼, ½, 1 teaspoon and 1 tablespoon.
3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon or ½ fluid oz. 1 Am. teaspoon = 1 Brit, or French teaspoon
16 tablespoons = 1 cup or 8 fluid oz. 1 Am. tablespoon = 1 Brit, or French dessertspoon
4 cups = 1 quart or 32 fluid oz. 4 Am. teaspoons = 1 Brit, or French tablespoon
4 quarts = 1 gallon or 128 fluid oz. 5 Am. cups = 1 Brit, quart or 40 fluid oz.
