Of all the so-called necessary items one has to stock in the larder to avoid being ‘unprepared’, there are many things I end up throwing away because they are never used. I must admit, however, that I am like a hamster and tend to hoard things. To cook Italian food there are not many items you always must have, because Italian cooking is based on fresh ingredients. These are more or less the only ingredients I would suggest you need.
