Some things cannot be improved upon, and the American black iron skillet or frying pan is one of them. Before the first use, season it with a half cup vegetable oil, place in the oven, and then never wash it, and you have a perfect pan for deep or shallow frying, for blackening or searing, or for cornbread cooked in bacon fat.
