  • About
French toast is simply slices of trimmed white bread dipped in beaten egg and fried in butter until golden brown on both sides. The egg keeps the sandwich from absorbing too much butter, making it less greasy than an ordinary fried sandwich. Use any of the following fillings:
  • Thin ham or processed cheese slices. Marmite on its own is delicious.
  • Mozzarella cheese with a seasoning of salt and pepper – an Italian favourite.
  • Flavoured cream cheese, or a tasty meat paste.
  • Jam is nice – sprinkle the tops with sugar for serving – red jam such as raspberry is pretty.
