Fish & Seafood

I have been fortunate to live near the sea for most of my life, only living in land-locked West Germany and Hereford in England for 3 or 4 years, so trips to the seaside were made regularly, and were very much enjoyed. A day at the seaside was something to look forward to. They are my earliest and happiest memories – the smell of the leather upholstery in the back of the Morris Minor, the excitement of where the destination would be and the tantalising thought of delving into a slice of home-baked fruit pie, armed only with simple cheese and pickle sandwiches, and a bottle of warm “pop”, and maybe a packet of crisps – the ones with the little twisted blue packet of salt at the bottom of the bag, we neither needed nor cared for anything more.
