Navigating FODMAPs Safely

Appears in
Low-FODMAP and Vegan

  • About
Because FODMAPs are found almost exclusively in plant foods, it can seem daunting if not impossible for vegans with IBS to have a well-balanced, low-FODMAP eating plan. Vegans in general are routinely, although unjustifiably, questioned about whether they’re getting enough protein, but these concerns become disproportionately magnified in light of a low-FODMAP diet. That’s because most beans, a primary plant-based protein source, aren’t generally well tolerated by people with IBS and are therefore very limited on a low-FODMAP regimen.
