The Yin/Yang Factor

When we use our perceptive abilities to explore our environment, we experience an expansive, more emotional or spiritual awareness of our surroundings. This quality is characteristically yin, expanded. When our physical senses allow us to take in our environment, to gather information and nutrition, this process of construction and maintenance is yang—contracted, increasing our physical control over our environment. Depending on our activity, location, and purpose, one or the other energy will dominate the moment, so we get the most useful information for the situation and can act appropriately.
