People from my village never dreamed of traveling around the world. Or having a big, fancy house with lots of rooms. Or going to a college. We knew all that would never happen.
What did we dream about? Growing perfect grains of rice. Or recovering from smallpox. Or cooking plentiful meals for the whole village. We also knew all that would take a long time. We had a saying, “Kiển tha lâu cũng đầy tô’.” It meant “ants gather food day by day to fill their nest.” If we saved little by little and worked hard each day, then we would reach our goals in time.
