At first, I thought Duc would be a much better match for Tung than Bao had ever been. He seemed to treat her better and, like Tung, he was a hard worker. Unfortunately, we soon realized that Duc was spending a lot of his money on gambling. He said he was lonely, had also gambled a lot in Vietnam, and didn’t have much of a support system in America. I wondered when Tung would learn to judge people better, when she would learn she was good enough to stand up to Vietnamese people who were from a higher class.
