I spotted this young boy traveling with his mother on a local passenger train that had paused in the station of a small mountain town in Orissa.
Kolkata’s (formerly Calcutta) main train station, Howrah Station, can be intimidating, especially at night. There are people waiting for trains, sleeping on the ground, or leaning on their bags; others hurrying purposefully; announcements that are impossible to decipher; and always that little anxiety about whether you’ll find your train, and your compartment and seat, in time.
