The best way to heat maple syrup or melt butter is to do so in a glass measuring cup (such as Pyrex) in the microwave.
Maple syrup heats up very quickly. Start by heating for 30 seconds; test and go from there.
When measuring maple syrup, scrape the sides of your measuring cup well, as it has a tendency to coat and you may lose a fair amount in the process.
Some baking recipes direct you to “make a well” in the center of a flour mixture. This means you are to create an indentation, which pushes the flour mixture up onto the sides of the bowl.
