If there is a part of your home that you rarely use, consider whether it could be converted into a cellar. A small room, a cupboard or even just a corner of a room could be ideal. Using part of a garage or utility area is another option, but you will need to insulate it against severe cold, or in the winter your wine might freeze. There are various places to avoid:
  • In or close to the kitchen. Temperature and humidity variations are particularly severe in a kitchen.
  • Near a stove, oven, boiler, hot-water pipe, washing machine, dryer, refrigerator, or anything else that generates heat or causes vibrations.
