  • About
Prevention is always better than cure. By controlling the ambient conditions, you will minimize the risk of damage to your wine collection.
  • To reduce and control temperature fluctuations, insulate your area with a material such as foam hoards - available from large DIY outlets. Do not cover any existing air vents.
  • Unless your cellar is passive (has consistent ideal conditions, year-round), install a conditioning unit designed for wine cellars. Choose carefully, as some domestic air-conditioning units will de-humidify the air, causing a whole new set of problems. If required, choose one that supplies heat as well, so you can warm the area in the winter. If you are planning to place the unit in or near to your living area, check that it doesn’t make too much noise.
