  • About
Ready-made cellar books range from the basic and practical, to the lavish and ornate. You could have one book for purchase and stock records and a separate, more portable, book to record tasting notes. When selecting or designing a cellar book, make sure that you allocate space for the following:
  • The wine’s name; the grape variety or varieties; the country and region of origin; the producer’s name; the appellation and vineyard; the vintage; and critics’ comments or ratings.
  • The purchase details, including the date purchased; where you obtained the wine (direct from the producer, wine merchant, auction or gift); the quantity (with a note if the size was other than a standard bottle); and the price paid.
  • Your storage and stock information -the location of each wine in your cellar and the quantity of each wine.
  • Consumption records are the most personal and flexible item. You could include the date you drank each bottle; tasting notes and/or scores; how the wine is maturing; where and who you were with; and the special occasion or food that accompanied the wine.
