Natural aromas of fruits, flowers and vegetation often come from the variety of grape used in the wine -both in red and white wine. They can be the most evocative ways of describing the aromas of a wine, so when you next taste a wine that you think is “fruity”, try to think about exactly which fruits you can taste - is it tropical fruits, berry fruits, cooked fruits or citrus fruits? And is it sharp lemon, bitter lemon or tangy lemon?
