The wrong vintage

This is where mistakes often occur - simply because restaurants run out of one vintage and move onto another without updating the wine list. If the wine that you ordered was a particularly good year, and the next vintage was much less good in that region, you should certainly query it.
If the restaurant doesn’t have the vintage you ordered, you may want to see the wine list again and choose something else. If, on the other hand, you have chosen something like a young white wine where the vintage makes little difference, you may choose to accept the new year.
