See Grilled Chicken in an Algerian Marinade. Similar wines but for different reasons: the off-dry white picks up on the sweet while offering a foil for the heat, and lighter fruity reds are a nice “stage” for the dish. Off-dry rosés, for similar reasons to the whites, also work: Rosé d’Anjou is an example.
