Granola makes me think of the start of summer and days off, when I love to have breakfast in the garden or on the deck: fresh fruit, yogurt and drizzles of honey followed by an outdoorsy adventure fuelled by healthy goodness. Making your own is super quick and simple, and these recipes contain much less sugar than shop-bought varieties and are salt free. Pop the granola in an airtight jar and it lasts for weeks.
- I always use maple syrup in my granola recipes; it is less heavy and sticky than honey and adds sweetness and a light nutty flavour.
- For gluten free granola, just use gluten free oats.
