Rue De La Glacière 75013 M° Glacière (Line 6) Open: Wednesday and Saturday, 7 A.M.–2:30 P.M.
Where the rue de la Santé and rue de la Glacière converge, you will find Marché Alésia, a small market in a sleepy corner of the 13th arrondissement. While this part of Paris is usually visited for the bars in the Butte aux Cailles neighborhood or the authentic Chinese eateries that orbit the Place d’Italie, Marché Alésia merits a visit as well.
The market, which is tucked into a tree-lined street, is recognizable from afar by its striped circus tents and streams of lights. Walk about halfway down and you’ll see a line of people waiting for freshly harvested fruits and vegetables that come from Isabelle and Daniel Behuret’s farm. Located in Montlhéry, a mere twenty miles from Paris, the Behurets grow a selection of cabbage and lettuce varieties that are picked on the morning of the market.
