It takes between four and five days for them to sprout, and those most commonly used are alfalfa, aduki, barley, fenugreek, lentil, mung, pea, soya and wheat. It is possible to buy special sprouting utensils which work very well but a method that many people swear by is to place the seeds in a jam jar and stretch a piece of muslin/cheesecloth over the top, secured with an elastic band.
