  • About

There are three front doors in Eugenia Azzali’s house in Piadena, a tiny village in the countryside between Mantua and Cremona, because three families used to live in it, sharing the six rooms. Now all those rooms belong to Eugenia, a large woman with a soft round face and small eyes that often close against the strong light. She lives with her son Franco, better known as Miciu, a farmer who played the butcher in Bernardo Bertolucci’s film 1900, slaughtering the pig and cooking and serving it up in a great multitude of dishes.
