One of the wisest, richest and most respected men in all of Yunan had a problem so deep and so wretched that even his untold riches and vast wisdom could not begin to solve it.
The problem was the man’s son. Not that he wasn’t a loving and respectful son, for he was all this and more. The problem was the boy’s inability to pass the Imperial Exams. In Yunan, in those ancient times, not passing the Imperial Exams was akin to not passing Life itself. Time after time, the boy would sit for the precious exams, and time after time, he would fail.
