Foraging can bring more balance into our lives, getting us outside and connecting deeply with the plants on our doorstep. Picking food straight from the earth, in its natural timing, is nourishing on so many levels. When the plant is in season and gifting us with its presence, that is when it’s packed full of vitamins. It’s rare we can eat food straight from the earth but when it comes to foraging that’s exactly what we can do. No industrial farmers, no long-distance exports, just your hands in the soil, then making something with these earthly delights. I’m gonna be honest here though: I love foraging and all the magic it gives, and I love making and creating things with my plant finds; however, the foraging missions that take ages are really not my jam. I don’t have time to milk a rosehip for two days. So the recipes you’ll find in this book use plants that are pretty easy to find and easy to incorporate into a busy life. I like to call it “weaving the ancient with the new”.
