A relatively new diet idea, the paleo diet consists of eating only foods likely to have been eaten by early humans during the Paleolithic era, popularly known as the Stone Age. People following a paleo diet eat primarily fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, seeds, and nuts—in other words, foods that can be gathered in the wild. This diet concept arose from the idea that our bodies are more adjusted to these foods than to foods that developed from farming. The diet avoids farm-raised items like grains, beans, dairy products, refined sugar, and highly processed foods.
